Unit 2 Assignment 1: Preview Reflection Blog Post: When is Breaking the Law Justified?

The main purposes of the government in my opinion are providing military defense, security ion our homes, economic security, education, and health care. Sometimes it is a little difficult for the government to take care of these needs but they are fundamental in our every day lives. We have a social contract with the government and if our government does not meet our needs then we have a right to speak out as stated in the Constitution. I am not sure whether or not I would be willing to join a Revolution if the government was not meeting the government’s purpose. I guess it would really have to depend on the situation. I do think sometimes the public always says we need, we need, and we need. Sometimes we forget that it is not as simple as us needing something and for it to be given to us. Health care and education is a big topic right now. As much as I believe that those are the most important things right now, I also know that it is not an easy task to take care of. There are millions of people without health insurance and due to the economic crisis, it may be getting worse. One of my friends who work in the local hospital was actually saying that they were actually talking about cutting employee's hours, and as a result she would lose her health insurance since she would not be working full-time. A lot of places require you to work full-time in order to be eligible for health insurance. I don't think a revolution would be the best way to fix our problems, but instead create more conflict.

  1. I really hope that doesn't happen to your friend. It seems so contradictory to cut people's health insurance that work in the health services! Your list and explanation of why you wouldn't currently join a revolution are excellent. Shows understanding of topic and current problems our country faces.

Well written and thorough post. 20/20 points.
